Hair images for some of the mammals of Michigan

Species are listed in alphabetical order, by their scientific name. Their common name is given just to the right of scientific name. Clicking on the scientific name will bring you to a page showing the scale and medulla pattern of a guard hair from that species. There are light microscopy images of both the scale and medulla pattern, but only scale images are available for the SEM images. All SEM images were produced by Rachel Konieczka as an undergraduate research project through the Microscopy program at Central Michigan University's Department of Biology

Click here to see a scale bar (in millimeters) appropriate for both the thumbnail and full size images. The magnification is given for the SEM images (either 2000x or 650x).
